i am watching you. i have ordered my grid- and fangirls to flash you with their "mountains of joy" :sleurp: to make you miss me, just in case you aim for my car. :chasseur::kaloo2:

hey guys ;)  axxis278 messaged me some days ago if i could share my sim setup etc so i thought i'd do a little write up. before i even get started though i can tell you, :!:that the way i drive is not the fastest or easiest way to simrace:!:, it's only the way i race to try and prepare myself the best way possible for IRL races.

so what rig do i use and how do i set it up? :desmo:

pretty simple: playseat with a fanatec v2 wheelbase, formula rim and the v3 pedals, all mounted on a base that i built myself so it would fit under my table. :D playing on a single 27" screen from ASUS. no triple screen or VR setup because im a poor student :hippie:

the brake pedal is set up very stiff and with a very short travel range. if you have the v3 or v2 pedals, my brake pedal is set on 3.5. it still gives me enough range to really feel the pedal and enough stiffness to simulate some kind of pressure (probably around 40-50 bar.... in the real TT Cup car i brake with 100-120 bar).

the screen is mounted too high actually so i always have to look up slightly, but i dont have any other option at the moment since this is also my working desk

as for the seating position, i would like to have the steering wheel closer to me but it's not possible with my current rig. one useful tip i can give you though is to have free space underneeth both of your thighs when fully pressing the throttle or brake pedal. do this so no energy you use is pressed into the seat and all the energy you actually wanted to load the pedals with really reach the pedals, and not only 80% because you're pushing into your seat. it also makes regulating the braking force a lot easier :prions:

    setting up RaceRoom

first things first, my driving view. i try to set it as low as i sit in the cockpit IRL, which honestly makes it a lot more difficult, especially without a tripple screen or VR setup because i cant look into the corner very much. the height is usually setup, that i only see half of the track in front of me from the cockpit view. it is 100% easier to sit higher, but we try to sit as low as possible to have the weight lower to the ground, even if its only 2 cm's.

when going downhill, this is no problem, but as soon as you have elevation changes and drive uphill or dive into a blind corner, things get very difficult due to the limited view

next thing you will notice, i always have the virtual steering wheel switched off. the virtual steering wheel might look nice, but it subconsciously takes away a little bit of your concentration because you always see the steering wheel move in the corner of your eye, and it is not 100% accurate to what you are doing IRL. either the speed of the turning or the angle of turning isn't the same, always throwing you off a little bit of what the car is really doing. i would only suggest having the wheel turned on when using VR. other than that, it is completely useless (sorry JF :siffle:). At first it might seem a little bit weird because the cockpit looks very empty, but it gives you a better understanding of what the car is doing and makes it easier for you to react faster. this way you stop relying on your steering angle and start feeling the car more. also, turn off motion blur. nobody needs that :pp

i think thats it for now, i hope it was useful for you guys. but not too useful, i still want to win. :batte::eclipse:
